Fairfax Tree Stewards
For homeowners who want trees to beautify their property and improve the environment.
NOTE: This is a pilot program at this time. Applicants must be from the Culmore area of Fairfax County. See map.

Submit the fillable application; or
download an application form (English or Spanish) from our website and email it to trees@FairfaxTreeStewards.org; or

To apply for a tree:
-You must be the owner of the property; and
- There must NOT be an existing tree in your front yard.
TREE SELECTION

American Hornbeam: very hard wood; tolerates shade; graceful form.
Fringe Tree: fragrant white flowers; often multi-trunked.
Redbud: heart-shaped leaves;
pink-purple flowers
Serviceberry: white flowers in April;
edible berries in June
Sweetbay Magnolia: fragrant white flowers;
loves moisture
American Elm: disease-resistant cultivar; graceful shape, with golden leaves in fall
Bald Cypress: deciduous conifer; soft, feathery leaves
Bicolor Oak: leaves are dark green on top and silvery-white underneath
Black Gum: brilliant red fall color
White Oak: most valuable tree for wild- life; stately
Willow Oak: durable, fine textured
EVERGREEN TREES
American Holly
red berries; white flowers; food for birds
Eastern Red Cedar:
purple-blue berries; food for birds
